Renault my work History

Dacia Groupe Renault - Design Engineer Exterior Trims

During my fourth year of university studies, I was fortunate to secure one of the sixteen available intern positions at the Dacia Pitesti Plant. Witnessing the significant investment Renault had made to modernize this plant in Romania left a lasting impression on me. During my time there, I immersed myself in the manufacturing technology of Gearboxes TLx and gained practical insights into the various stages of car production, aligning with the subjects I had studied in college.

Inspired by my internship experience, I set my sights on a career in the automotive industry, particularly within the Dacia Renault Group. Upon embarking on my master's degree journey, I began my professional career at Renault Technologies Romania - Bucharest through the Segula Technologies agency.

Under the guidance of my mentor, George Ichim, a seasoned engineer with previous experience at Porsche, I received specialized CAD design training. My responsibilities included 3D modeling of parts for a Renault supplier, particularly focusing on designing acoustic insulation for the Duster Phase 2 car.

Collaborating closely with Renault, I ensured that the 3D models met their specifications and addressed any technical requirements. Additionally, I meticulously verified the surrounding environment for potential collisions and contributed to the creation of technical drawings.

Together with my mentor and a few other colleagues, I joined the Exterior Trim Team. My responsibility was to design Exterior and Interior Trims according to RENAULT standards for Dacia models such as Logan, Sandero, Duster, Lodgy, Dokker, and special editions.

Responsibilities:

  • Designing new parts or modifying existing ones while considering technical, economic, and car design aspects.

  • Improving the design, performance, and cost of existing products.

  • Maintaining up-to-date technical definitions and numerical layouts within projects and managing compositions.

  • Maintaining relations with suppliers and the architecture and mounting department during the development of new parts.

  • Creating or checking technical drawings according to Renault standards and regulations.

  • Managing relations with suppliers to ensure they meet all deadlines for various milestones.

  • Implementing existing designs on new projects or existing projects in new plants.

  • Conceiving designs of prototype parts made in stereo-lithography (quickly prototype-powder filtering) and verifying them on mock-up vehicles.

  • Checking suppliers' parts with the Design department to ensure they meet all requirements in terms of functionality, shape, volume, color, and graining.
